The countryside in London:
Barnes Bridge to Fulham Palace

Picture

This walk feels more like the countryside than a city!

It includes a village with its own village green and pond; the pretty Thames path embankment at Putney and the magnificent grounds and buildings of the 14th century Fulham Palace.

We meet at Barnes Bridge Station (overground train from London Waterloo) in south-west London. We have a coffee to introduce ourselves.

You will see:
  • The house where Gustav Holst  lived
  • The Bull's Head Pub, Barnes - a famous jazz pub
  • Barnes Village Green and pond, including 17th century houses
  • Olympic Studios, one of London’s most celebrated recording studios. Albums from the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin – all world-famous rock musicians recorded here.
  • Putney Pier, the famous start of the Oxford and Cambridge Annual Boat Race
