English Walks |
I really enjoyed the morning with you so a big thank you from me! You are all so supportive to each other as well as really striving to find those words! A great way to learn English, I think! Nelly Hi Gail Thanks very much for the lovely walk and all your interest you showed in our learning. Maria |
Richmond-upon-Thames: River views and Royal Connections, Saturday 17th November 2018
There are a lot of things I liked but number one was the amazing views from Richmond Hill. I liked everything .. Like always I learnt a lot of new vocabulary. I spent a really nice time chatting with the others. Ula |
I enjoyed getting to know the history about Richmond. It was a calm and pleasant walk, and doing it in Autumn was very special. A beautiful place and good concersation.
A lovely day Gail! I'd like to thank you for your precious work! Leili I liked how it was organised - from introducing to going over new information. A nice walk and I enjoyed everything. It was a pleasant day. Alena |
The views from Richmond Hill and the cafe settled on top for me. Als the walk along the riverside. I didn't like the broken coffee machine in the first pub we visisted though! I find it very interesting this kind of activities because it let yourself know a bit more of the city, the culture and the people living there. Thank you! Marta |
Follow the Elephant: exploring Walworth and Elephant & Castle - Saturday 20th October 2018
Some very nice green areas were included. I also like in the path, beautiful buildings as Cinema Museum and Budist Cafe. I least like that particularly on this walk, people were not so open to talk. Maybe it was because they had a weekfull. It was very nice though! Gail always chooses a good path, full of history, information and makes us become aware of the political and social issues of London.
Leili Best, I like the small church where Charles Chaplin's parents got married. It was an amazing experience because I enjoyed untipical places from London. I like the idea to everyone prepare something. I'll try to enjoy again, thanks! Ana |
I could discover a new area plus lots of information about it. I least like that I had to talk in public but in fact it's good for me. I learnt many, many new vocabulary.
Ula |
It's original and you have to be part of it. It was easy to follow and everything was interesting. I'll join the next one (if I don't have to work)!
Antonio I like the visit of the Cinema Museum, the market and all the snippets of informaiton.
Sarah I liked best the history about the area and how the things have changed in the past few years. It was a nice walk with friends that I have met before and with Gail who is a very good teacher. It was good to prepare a part of the history before coming to be committed. One suggestion: during the walk, apart from everyone's speech, we could have passwords, riddles ..
Maria |
Borough: A tale of poverty & prisons, renewal & growth
Best was the conversations with Gail and my new friends. Some great experiences! Elena I like best Charles Dickens facts, the Marhalsea Prison and the Crossbones Cemetery. It was a great experience - a great group and walk, as usual - even with the rain!! Luca |
I like the small size of the group, the informal visit, the research we did. The best part to come back on the vocabulary. It was so interesting. I enjoyed the walk a lot!
Thomas |
I liked the different snippets about Southwark. The weather was least good but you couldn't do anything about it! Sarah |
Hammersmith: stories of music, art & innovation - Saturday 28th April 2018
I especially liked the historical information that was intersting and funny. But I didn't like the cold weather LOL! I love it as always. I learned many new words and our funny instructor makes time pass very quickly.
Unal What did I like best? The area, people and history. It was a little bit cold though. Today was so good experience as always. Hammersmith is a nice area and I loved discovering the history about the places we have been to. I can't wait for the next one! Maribel |
This area has different and contrasting parts which create unusual perceptions and impressions. The weather was quite cold unfortunately, or my cloth was not appropriate for this weather. I love English Walks because it's interesting and there are many interesting people. Thank you Gail for your enthusiasm! Elena Best was the church and the Bridge. And the stories about each place we have visited. The weather wasn't good (but you can't do nothing about that!). My second English conversation Walk was great! Sarah |
The documented stories from Gail about the different places we've visited were best. The least thing I like were Gail's drawings (joking!!). It was good fun, as always. Very interesting spots and their history that helped me to know better my area.
Miguel. The best was the last part review all the new words. And the riverside and beautiful church. The thing I least liked was the cold weather! I have learned many history stories about the area. And met some new people. A relax, happy walking. I would like to attend the next one. Liya |

Where business, finance and skyscrapers meet medieval London, Wednesday 04th October 2017
To discover really nice places hidden among skyscrapers was the best. The English weather was the least good! It is is always a really nice to go through all the vocab at the end.
Anthime |
The mix of the different kinds of architecture and going through them was good. I didn't like the windy weather and noisey atmosphere. Learning and practicing English in a different, pleasant and informal way is good. I don't know if it's actually possible, but going on the top of a skyscraper (the Walkie-Talkie) could be amazing during this walk! Axelle |
The walk in general and Gail and the others - all were best. Particularly I enjoyed to visit St Andrews Undershaft and the garden of St Dunstans-in-the-East. It was very interesting. I could learn a lot of new vocab and I could see very beautiful places in the city. Rosella |

Andrea It was intersting to visit new places and know their history.
Pierpaolo I liked the different monuments inside Hampstead. A very nice walk through a great area of London. Gail explained to us a lot of history well selected and the work before the walk wasa a good way to get ready first. Anthime |
The part of the big houses on the hill and the park. I really enjoyed discovering new spots of Hampstead village.

At the same time, I felt really motivated by meaningful and effective learning! I think that it is the best way to improve a language, with exiting and real experiences with a native speaker teacher, fully involved in our learning. Everything that the website promised was true! All the best, Laia |

London's Legal Quarter - Inns of Court: Thursday 12th December 2013
Dalston: Saturday 16th November 2013
Hello Gail, I very much enjoyed this conversation walk too and all your organisation work before this meeting and the vocabulary that you sent after. I liked very much the history research and also hear the work of everyone, it is a great idea. I learn a lot thanks to you. I transmit you once again the pictures. See you soon, Cécile. |
